RANSON, WV — Ranson police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash on the Route 9 Bypass near the Flowing Springs Road overpass that happened July 27, 2026. Chief of Police Jeffrey Cisar said officers were called at 4:22 p.m. Monday to reports of a collision involving a Subaru and a Honda SUV. The Subaru driver was taken to Jefferson Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later died. The Subaru passenger and the SUV driver were also transported to the hospital for treatment.
Crash Details
According to the preliminary investigation, the Subaru was merging onto the bypass from the East 5th Avenue exit and traveling eastbound when the driver turned left into the passing lane. Investigators said the Honda SUV then struck the Subaru on the driver’s side. Police have not released additional details about the people involved, and the investigation remains open. The crash location was on a busy stretch of the bypass near the overpass, where traffic from the exit and passing lane can come together quickly.
