RIEGELWOOD, NC — Three people were arrested after Columbus County sheriff’s investigators searched a Riegelwood residence in July and reported finding multiple controlled substances and more than $9,000 in cash. The sheriff’s office said the search warrant was served at 705 Hoover Road, a home linked to George Munn. Investigators said the case began with extensive surveillance before the warrant was executed. The sheriff’s office described the seized drugs as trafficking amounts of heroin or opium, along with cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana.
Search Turned Up Drugs
According to the sheriff’s office, the search was carried out by investigators with the Special Operations Division Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division. Authorities said the cash was taken under the North Carolina Unauthorized Substances Tax Act. The amount seized was more than $9,000 in U.S. currency, in addition to the alleged narcotics. Officials did not say exactly how the money was found, only that it was part of the items recovered during the search. The sheriff’s office said the evidence pointed to illegal drug activity at the residence.
Charges Filed Against Munn
George Munn was charged with several offenses after the investigation, including two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin. He also faces counts for possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substances, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, marijuana-related charges, maintaining a dwelling and vehicle for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The sheriff’s office did not provide a court date or say whether Munn had entered a plea. The agency’s account of the case centers on the items recovered during the warrant service and the resulting criminal counts.
Other Two Arrested
Gyrell Munn and Tara Nobles were also taken into custody following the search. The sheriff’s office said each of them was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia charges. The department did not release additional details about their specific roles in the investigation. All three arrests stemmed from the same July search at the Hoover Road home. The sheriff’s office said the case remains part of its ongoing effort to investigate narcotics activity in Columbus County.

In a brief statement, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said it will continue investigating illegal drug activity and working with other law enforcement partners to address narcotics in the community. The statement did not name any additional agencies involved beyond the sheriff’s office divisions that carried out the search. No injuries were reported in connection with the operation. The sheriff’s office did not say whether more arrests are expected. For now, the case stands as another drug-enforcement action tied to a single residence and a set of charges based on the items investigators say they found.
